The Yogi Who Stopped Time

Lesson: The power of a still mind

A young seeker once asked his guru:
“Master, why do we meditate?”

The guru smiled and said,
“Follow me.”

He took the student to a flowing river and pointed at it.
“Can you stop the river?”

The student shook his head.

Then the guru led him to a lake and asked,
“Now, can you stop the water here?”

The student picked up a stone and threw it into the lake. The ripples spread, but soon, the water became still again.

The guru explained,
“The river is like the mind—always moving with thoughts. But meditation makes the mind like a still lake. In that stillness, time stops, and truth is revealed.”

The student understood that a restless mind cannot grasp the infinite. Only stillness allows true perception.
